Zayde felt kind of stupid after he finished speaking, but atleast Trei was willing to talk...sort of. He totally got his perspective of the no talking deal, but honestly he wanted a friend, besides a bullheaded sister, to trust. He didnt exactly agree with the whole blessing buisness though. What, did he think just because there were more options the whole arranged marriage thing would be better? Yeah right, what crap. You were still forced into the thing and the parents still would probably choose the same person. Zay was about to answer when Trei had said he was going to sleep. He didnt blame the guy, it was kind of late and he was beat himself, but wished Kari was here with some more soup. Then it hit him again, a fresh wave of fever, and his leg started burning in what felt like blue fire, acid, and salt all at the same time. It hurt so much it started to numb. This Phantu bite really sucks. Zay thought through the pain as he slowly, painfully, sunk into unconsiouness. Kari had gathered a lot of stuff. They could probably leave that morning if Zay could pull through the fever. They had enough meat for a couple days, and nuts galore. The canteens were filled and she still had salt to stop thirst. Karillian had found some numbing herbs and a lipicus plant that would help draw the Phantu poison from Zay's leg. She walked through the dense forest happyish. She could escape this nightmare and move onto the next. At one point, they had to end, right? Kari kept a loose hold on her bow incase anything came. When she had scaled a tree she'd seen a giant owl bear a good eighty kilometers away, no where near her, and running the opposite way. So it wouldnt get to her before she'd get back. Kari wondered if Zay was still okay, and if that prince had gone inside yet. She'd find out soon enough, since she could barely see the cabin in the weak light. Her pack weighed heavily on her back, and her muscles in her arms and legs ached, not to mention her lower back. But she would pull through, for Zay. Kari started running towards the house near silently, and tried to ignore the glistening yellow eyes of the Howlers. She stepped through the thresh hold of the house and saw the prince out on the couch, or atleast he looked out. She also heard Zay's moans, yet loud snoring. Typical brother. Kari walked straight to the bedroom to Zay sleeping somewhat peacefully, but sweating out of his skin. She poured water down his throat and pulled his blanket back to his ribs so he could cool off. "Night, Zay. Enjoy a bed now, never now when you'll get another one." Not with Sunste probably on our heels Kari thought, and dropped her things on the floor. The meat was salted so it would keep, and she was drop tired. But Kari couldnt let her guard down. She sat down and angled herself so she could see the prince, Zayde, and all other possible entraces or exits. She could stay awake the whole night, she'd done it before, she'd do it again. "Night...Kari." Zay spoke softly inspite of the raspyness of his voice. "Night, dont let bed bugs bite," Kari said with a smile, and reached to pat Zay's open arm once before focusing on watching. The bed probably has bugs, if I know the prince right. Kari sneered in her head, not completely meaning it, but the thought kept her awake, so she'd take it. | |
