Trei kept his face expressionless throughout Sunste’s answer though inside he had several reactions going on at once. Actually curious, he asked, “The people of Cayri release phantus on their Crown Prince and Princess. With no heed that with a bite, which you say the Prince has suffered, they could die?” It was hard to grasp, would they rather have their heirs dead than alive and fugitives. He made sure to remain impersonal, not mentioning either of Zayde or Karillian’s names, and keeping his face impartial. The server’s came in at that moment and set down the first course for the group. Bowls of steaming beef stew, one of the King’s personal favorites. They brought in wine and poured it in the goblets, though they set aside ale if any preferred it. Trei knew his father did, but he wouldn’t take it when with a royal guest. It was merely there if Sunste preferred it. The servers retreated back into the kitchen, except for the few stationed by the walls, in case the group wanted something, but easily out of hearing distance. Trei placed his napkin in his lap and picked up a spoon, beginning to eat the soup as he waited for Sunste’s answer. | |
