Trei made an attempt to answer Zayde, but Karillian began to shout out of her room. He sat there somewhat awkwardly as they bantered. Soon enough they ended the conversation and Zayde was much less serious now, talking about the glyphs themselves. “An e would make more sense,” Trei amended, “It is just something I have enjoyed since I was young. Perhaps you would be able to come up with a phrase of some sort containing the whole of this alphabet. It would be fun for me to work at.” Trei gave a small grin to Zayde, the tension had eased slightly but he still was not entirely comfortable with the pair yet, “Of course, it would be better if you omitted names,” Trei added. Trei’s thoughts led him to what Zayde had been saying before Karillian interrupted them, his slight grin vanished from his face. “What you’re saying about them using her,” Trei made sure not to use her name in case she decided she’d like to argue again, “It makes sense. It isn’t like it hasn’t been done before. However, at dinner Sunste seemed to be under the impression that the two of you were not close. He may, of course, been lying but it didn’t seem so to me. Perhaps he doesn’t know and it is a higher level managing this, or maybe it is nothing. They could be actually going for a truce. I don’t particularly believe that but I, like you, have been raised a monarch. We were taught not to trust others, that is how it is.” Trei glanced down at the glyphs again, something about it all didn’t make sense. He wondered why Zayde would write something like that down. Trei had always kept the important information in his head so as not to have someone stumble across it. True that it was coded, but he had figured it out easily enough. It wasn’t like Zayde was sending it to someone. The purpose Zayde had behind it evaded Trei and he shifted his gaze back to Zayde, waiting for his response. | |
