Kari made sure to eat as much as possible while she could. It was amazing, so there really was no problem with it. Still, she was half asleep, so basically food was one of her best thoughts at the moment. That was blown out of the water when her mind picked out bits of important information from Trei’s speech. He’ll be gone most of the day…oh, she was Katya and Zay was Demetrey, right…garden…garden! Kari’s conscience woke-up a bit at the idea of going outside into a garden. She realized Trei had gone silent and popped a piece of fruit into her mouth to cover the lapse of conversation. Kari swallowed the bitter-sweet grape fruit slice and carried out her side. “That would be…erm…lovely” Lovely? Really Kar—Katya? Kari swallowed, moistening her throat and continuing. “I’m sure Demetrey would like to go outside, get stung by another hive of wasps.” Her mind slowly woke up, and started making excuses for her brother’s illness. She smiled though, showing the humor but the excuse was still there. “I hope you enjoy the visit from your, uh, friends—no—guests at the wharf and throughout the week.” Kari’s mind felt sluggish, trying to grasp the full view of the conversation. “Will we be meeting for dinner?” Kari kind of wanted to, last night’s was pretty annoying for her. Annoying, why? Her mind tried to grasp the reason, but even though she was such a willing person to see things through to the end, she let the thought go. Kari poked at a piece of egg and then picked up a slice of the greasy bacon. “You know, bacon is the best thing ever. You want to know why? Cause its bacon. You will never ever go wrong with bacon.” Kari breathed in deeply, feeling oddly homey, like she would with Zay. She bit the bacon, enjoying the fat and closing her eyes. Her main goal today was just to sleep, really. She’d get her twin to go outside, clear his head, while she relaxed in the bliss of sleep, something she’d been lacking for two nights straight now.
