Hannah raised her eyebrows at the boy. “If I reveal some of my own?” Hannah repeated. “Hmm, seems a little strange but I’ll go along,” Hannah said. She was a little put off by Demetery’s polite way of speaking. Hannah had learned from experience that people who spoke like that usually were trying to hide something or were trying to manipulate you. Hannah didn’t get the feeling that he was trying to manipulate her, as he had accidentally run into her, otherwise they wouldn’t be talking at all. So he was hiding something, Hannah decided. So either most or all of what he was about to tell her was lies or, well actually Hannah decided there wasn’t much else to it. Hannah narrowed her eyes ever so slightly as she studied the boy more intently now, her amber eyes searching now instead of just looking. She finished her braid quickly and tucked into behind her. “You first, though. It’s only fair since I asked first,” Hannah said to the boy, folding her hands in her lap.
