Zay nearly sighed out loud as Hannah walked calmly into the room, and yet it seemed to be in more shambles than before. He simply assumed it was due to the dinner hour, must be servant kitchen, need to remember that, since this will probably be where I’m supposed to eat as a page boy. Zayde smiled, and Hannah’s plain reason for the lack of shoes nearly made him smile. He and Kari walked around their cool private household barefoot nearly every possible chance they had, not to mention the sand in the springtime when it was just warm enough not to burn. The prince smiled to himself out of range of the princess’ view, and he noticed a real kitchen that deemed worthy enough for a guest off to the left hand side. The smell of still warm bread wafted from the room, making his mouth water but his stomach protest. He instantly ran his hand along the bite-mark; extremely happy he was wearing long leather pants, even if they were uncomfortable. Hannah spoke up about something about short cuts, blocking his painful memory from getting the best of him. “Yes, well, wasn’t exactly sure whether you wanted to be served in the kitchen, or somewhere else away from the usual clanging of pots and glass-wear being cleaned and scrubbed. Normally there are maids frantic to get the work done, but I guess it’s later than I originally thought, since the servants here normally quit at about eight. The kitchen to your left is open practically all night; it quits at about twelve, wakes at three. Though if there is a party or major guest then it stays up as long as the gathering goes. I’ve seen it never stop for three days, but that was at the prince’s sixteenth birthday. Back to reality, though, right through there, if you’d like,” Zayde hadn’t realized how he fabricated the story based on real tales that he’d heard, which most defiantly included the birthday gathering. It was the talk of the year, he remembered the precious cut gems Caryi had sent the prince to show they liked him and were as always at peace with Andato. He followed, breaking his chain of thought, as Hannah started to the door, hoping Kari hadn’t been to this kitchen yet. She had said something about eating with Trei, and it was all too possible she’d had it with others around.
