Demetrey started rambling on about something, but Hannah was trying to listen as best she could. He had enough facts to be truthful it seemed, but Hannah had already decided he was lying and not who he said he was. She didn’t mention it though, she would see how this played out. She sat down at the table Demetrey had indicated. She looked up at him, “So where does a girl get a glass of wine around here.” Hannah waited for an answer but they were interrupted by a serving girl. “What could I get for the two of you,” She asked politely. Hannah took note that she showed no recognition of Demetrey. “A glass of wine for me, please,” Hannah said. Demetrey answered, “Coffee, please.” The girl hurried away, off to get their drinks. Hannah raised her eyebrows and him but made no question. Hannah thought for a moment and then said to him, “I think I’ll be going down to the docks after this. You could come if you’d like.” Hannah had a mischievous glint to her amber eyes, she had never been one to listen to rules. Especially those that were established by her brother. Before Demetrey could give an answer the girl came back with their drinks. She placed a glass of the red liquid in front of Hannah, and a mug of coffee in front of Demetrey. She asked if there was anything else she could get them, and at Hannah’s reassurance that there wasn’t, she gave a curtsy and left. Hannah fingered her glass, swirling the wine around in circles before sipping it. It only took a moment for the liquid to make her feel as if a small fire was lit in her. She immediately felt warmer as the heat seemed to coarse through her body after another sip. Hannah set the glass down, though she continued to swirl it around. She raised her eyebrows questioningly at Demetrey, waiting for an answer. | |
