Hannah seemed sort of distant, yet not. Almost like Kari when she wanted to listen, but the topic was boring to her. He noticed she liked wine, and that she was technically underage, even if she was a monarch to-be. Zayde smiled inwardly at that, because that's what Kari and his favorite tutor Gusto had always called him. He glanced around the kitchen, trying to memorize it while not letting his face be shown too much. His attention snapped back when the servant girl set down the coffee and wine, and Zay smiled as Hannah played around with the drink like some mature person would. Hannah didn't exactly seem to fit 'mature' with her nature and her asking him whether he'd like to go to the docks with her. He realized Hannah was waiting for an answer and took a sip from the slightly too hot coffee. "The docks? Pretty place if I remember right. I'm not too well in sync with the sea, though I do love the saltiness of it. Haven't gone there in ages, though," Zay mused like it was a real option without much consequence. He felt better, not sick enough to puke or faint or become delusional. The salt water was said to help infected wounds and the air would help clear his head and cool him off if he recieved a fever again. But there was also the whole him not actually being a servant to Trei, and also not really supposed to be leaving Trei's quarters, let alone the castle. He wondered how easily it would be to slip out without much notice. Kari would be annoyed with him, and furious if he slipped out of the castle without taking her, but he was interested in the princess and becoming friends. It was all too natural of a part of him to reach out in hopes of friendship. "I doubt I'll be useful in the morning from lack of sleep, but I've heard the moon's prettiest over the ocean. I'd like to go, yes, after this though. I have to say this cup is one of the greatest arts of man." he sipped the cup, slightly lying since he preffered heavier and darker cups from Caryi, but this was good enough and kept him awake and thinking. It made him feel better. He looked up at Hannah's glass, lower than when he'd last looked but not by much, and took another short round at his own. | |
