“Excellent,” Hannah answered, “We can go as soon as you’re done.” Hannah would guess Amir would be unhappy that she was going, but that wouldn’t stop her. Besides she wanted to see what Will was up to. The morning seemed so distant after the long day. Anyway, Will would probably be preparing the ships with the rest of the crew tomorrow and the next few days, so her chances of seeing him may be small. She was sure she could get down to the wharf without help. Hannah was pretty good with not getting lost, and if she did she could always follow the scent and sound of the ocean. She would be glad to be near it again. Even though she’d only been on board a few days, she missed the lull of the ship. Her summers back home were always long when she didn’t go to the ocean often. It was one bad thing about the palace being near the center of Cancri. It was true there were a number of large rivers to sail on, but it wasn’t quite the same as the open ocean. The next couple of weeks would be fun in that sense. She would almost always have an ocean at hand to sail. “I wonder where Prince Trei is,” Hannah mused, mostly to herself, but she said it aloud. “I think he said something about seeing his sisters. He seems quite attached to them. I wonder what it would be like to have a younger sibling. My brother is older, so of course always thinking he has to protect me.” Hannah’s own words reminded Hannah of her conversation with Will on the boat. About him thinking she needed protecting. When people said that it usually aggravated Hannah, but Hannah couldn’t help smiling a little at the memory. Will seemed to make everything a little more bearable and liven things up naturally. | |
