Zayde smiled as Hannah answered with what he took as a happier note, and instantly raised the mug to his lips at the last of her answer. She seemed to be one to not exactly be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he noticed her thinking again. Zay set the mug down for a second, enjoying the bitterly refreshing coffee as it warmed his throat when Hannah spoke up again about the prince. She brought up the topic of siblings also, and it made him smile to hear how she thought of her older brother how he was protective even though he wasn’t in line for the throne. He thought of Karillian constantly trying to boss him around even though he was in line for the throne, not to mention was older by a few minutes. “I’m trying to imagine that, feeling to protect a younger sibling. I don’t have any, but being a man it’s not so hard to imagine for a younger sister.” He pretended to think, but it was almost too easy. So many times he’d helped Karillian out with a little this, clearing her schedule for that, chalking it full if she tried to do something stupid. He took another sip of the coffee and noticed Hannah smiling to herself. “What’re you thinking about?” he asked nonchalantly, but was interested. It was one of those smiles you don’t mean to show, which further made him interested. He finished the glass and slightly set it on the side of the table, picked up a napkin, and wiped the coffee that would soon threaten his white shirt. He locked eyes with a maid, whom he recognized as the same one as before, and she came to collect the dishes. | |
