Back in Cancri being called a witch was considered very offensive. But Hannah could tell he was trying to be funny about it, so she let it slide. “No, I’m not. Besides, I don’t think flying on brooms would help me much,” Hannah said, making a face at the thought. Two fears of hers were flying and horses, though not heights. The Cavalli Volanti were definitely not her kind of animal. “I’ve never heard of someone developing an accent from a place they don’t live in though,” Hannah thought of her own accent which marked her as from Cancri. The boy definitely had an accent though, but Hannah believed she had heard it before. This would give her cause to think he hadn’t moved around much. She didn’t question him though, whether or not he was lying Hannah had put aside. She had already decided not to believe him, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t befriend him. Just then the serving girl came back with Hannah’s coat and boots. She set them beside the table and with a curtsy she was gone again. Hannah picked up the jacket. The girl had chosen her tan suede one. She slipped it on and pulled on her boots quickly. She took a sip of her wine and turning to Demetrey she said, “I’m ready when you are.”
