Despite what Demetrey said, Hannah seriously doubted that he was “fine.” He looked closer to fainting than be okay. While the moon may be bleaching them out, Hannah was sure he still looked ill. Demetrey stood up straighter and smiled at her, but Hannah could see sweat beading on his forehead. “Uh, yeah. Let’s get back to the castle,” Hannah agreed, though she heard the strain in Demetrey’s voice. Hannah did not really knowing what she should do to help. She felt awkward helping him walk, he could get offended. But then again if he fainted Hannah seriously doubted she could carry him all the way back, she thought she could maybe drag him. She opted to just walk a step behind. That way if he fell she could catch him, and it wasn’t obvious at all. Then again, if he fell forward there would be little Hannah could do. They got of the docks okay and started to make their way up to the castle. Hannah wanted to ask how Demetrey was doing but she didn’t want to offend or embarrass him or strain him in even the slightest way. Hannah kept watch of Demetrey’s face, waiting for his pain to slip through. She also glanced at his feet occasionally. Hannah noticed that people often didn’t think of their feet when distracted. They would drag them or even stumble. If he stumbled she wanted to be aware so she could catch him. | |
