Hannah smoldered as she went back to her room. After all her good intentions, she was sent off as if she was a bad coincidence that couldn’t be avoided. She reached the hall with her rooms, but instead of opening her door, she opened Amir’s.

He was still posed at his desk, but he appeared to be going through old notes instead of writing. Hannah gave a sigh before plopping down on the couch. “Bad night?” Amir inquired, without turning towards her. “No, not really. I just miss being at home a little,” Hannah amended. “You miss your friends quite so soon? I would have thought with all the friends you seem to make, that you would be quite content,” Amir said while shuffling through some more notes. “Ow!” Amir exclaimed as a throw pillow slammed against his head. Amir turned to look at Hannah, “So help me Hannah Acidalia…”

Hannah didn’t let him finish, “Oh, please, Amir.” She rolled her eyes for good effect. “Fine, what seems to be the problem? Why do you miss home?” Amir conceded. “I just miss the freedom,” Hannah sighed, playing for melodramatic with a hand across her forehead. “You didn’t have any more freedom then you do here,” Amir paused and then amended, “Maybe some. But it was only that you disobeyed any rules when you snuck out of the palace.” “You get my problem then!” Hannah smiled, “I can’t possibly sneak out, or it would be considered rude. Besides,” Hannah added, “I wouldn’t really know where to go here.” “Maybe, but either way, you can’t seem to break habits. I know you snuck out anyways, no matter if it was considered rude,” Amir smirked. “Not true, it is not sneaking if you bring one of the Prince’s servants.” “Oh, I’m sure,” Amir said sarcastically.

“Well, I am going to go back and read my book, since I was distracted earlier,” Hannah said as she stood up from the couch. “You sure you’re not off to sneak around some more,” Amir said, turning back to his desk. He received another pillow in the head, but by the time he threw it back at Hannah, she was already out the door. The pillow hit the closed door ineffectively and dropped to the floor. Amir sighed and said to himself, “Future Queen of Cancri is a typical teenager.” “I can hear you!” Hannah’s voice called from outside the door. Amir sighed again but said nothing.
