Burning, it was burning him. But it didn’t constantly burn, it was almost like a pattern to his heart. Du-Duh, flare! Du-duh, flare! The pumping of his heart filled his ears, since nothing else but his breathing was there to listen to. Zayde tried to roll over, he could feel the cold stone under his hands and back, but his body didn’t want to turn, so he gave up. No, no! Zayde, c’mon, fight! He felt his heart beat quicken slightly as his breathing did from the strain, and he laid still again. Zay, no, you have to get up. You have to get up for Karillian, she needs you. You have to get up for Trei, because he’s already done enough, and now he has to see and take care of you. Hannah, you had such a nice time and now after all your struggling, you’re just going to give up? Zayde breathed deeply, feeling winded though he was breathing perfectly fine. He grabbed for the door frame, and slowly lifted his head, and stopped and took a couple seconds before lifting his shoulders. C’mon Zayde, just a little bit more. It’s better to take bites than to eat everything whole, isn’t it? The memory of his favorite tutor came back, the days sitting on the covered patio overlooking a small oasis, learning and listening to the phrase every time he either struggled, or pushed too hard for something. Do it for your professor, he’d want you to do this little thing, because the littlest things impact the most. Zayde leaned against the door frame, his chest heaving because it seemed none of his muscles would react in his lower right body. But he’d gotten his torso up, only his legs…My leg, I may not even be able to lift— Zayde scrunched his eyes, not shaking his head. He wanted to clear his mind, but he was still dizzy, and the door seemed to be three instead of one. JUST DO IT! Kari screamed in his mind, causing Zayde to flinch at the clarity of the harsh, yet sisterly like tone, which caught him off guard. He took the moment of lapse to force himself to go to one knee before his body could protest. “Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow,” Zayde muttered under his breath; his body had decided to complain after. He heard, barely, feet shuffle, a perfect and easy gait even though it was fast. Why did this have to happen to me? Of all the people in the world, me! Zayde felt his eyes moisten, the pain mentally and physically building up, and threatening to poor over.
