Robin sat beside Niko, they sat leaned up against the stall’s door, sharing an apple. They had come in to feed the horses and give them a quick brush before they went out for the day. Robin loved the smell of the stable’s in the morning. Fresh hay had just been brought in, and the aroma of that mixed with the smell of horses made her feel at home. Not to mention, the Niko made it feel all the more like home.

“-After that the horse, Edgar, bucked him off. He landed flat in the manure,” Niko said, acting out the story out with his hands. Robin tilted her head back as she laughed, “Cousin Harold and Edgar never got along.” Robin spoke about her family back home. Of course home never really had referred to a place for Robin, more of the people, since they were constantly moving. She took a bit of the fruit and passed it over to Niko. He made a point of taking a huge bite over Robin’s small one. Robin smiled, “You gluttonous fool.”

Niko and Robin sat close with their legs spread out in front. Robin tapped Niko’s feet with her own, “You have huge feet.” Niko laughed, “Yeah, I guess I do.” Robin looked up from their feet and leaned her head up against the door. She looked over the stable wall and was momentarily surprised to see another face looking back.

It was a young boy, probably about nine or so. Auburn hair covered his face and bright eyes looked in. Niko had yet to notice as he had leaned his own head back but had his eyes closed. He blindly offered the apple to Robin. Robin took it and took a bite, her eyes not leaving the boy. Without saying anything she held the apple out towards him and raised her eyebrows in question.
