Kari watched Trei cut the pant leg off, and tried not to gag at just the sight. Pus, red-rubbed flesh, the wound inflamed rose from his skin in an arch of purple. and you could tell zayde had broken the scab, it leaked blood slightly in areas, and some scabs looked newer than others. Kari clutched the table, barely on her knees. How was Zayde doing it? Was it just because it was night? Trei then spoke up, and any prior hope disapated from her. Instead fear started drowning her, the blackest and worse feeling. She felt like the waves would just swallow her. Funny how no one could even rescue her though, because they were inside her mind, heart, and soul. The hardest places to touch. "I...I..." Kari mumbled, her brain starting to numb. "I...you need to drain it, the poison...I, uh, think is like foam almost. Oh I cant remember God Zayde speak up! Now would be a...great" Kari swallowed, "time." she whispered the last word. Why was she begging Zay? She always did. No, she had to. He could die that night, and who was she to condemn him to that, just because of a few feelings of hers? "Trei, do you have anything to numb it? Er, a small tourniquet might help too. Anything to keep Zayde awake. The second he tries to fall asleep, pain might keep him there, and we don't know whats happening on the inside. Zay is really good at this stuff, who knows he could be diagnosing himself now, but uh I don't know. If he can talk, I can tell you what to do. He's really the brains, he studied this, so...yeah. " Kari looked at Zayde's closed eyes, and his quick breathing. Her moment of hysteria way gone, how funny how it came so quick, and left just as fast. "Zaaaayyyy," Kari lightly slapped the side of his cheek. "Helloooooooo" she pulled open an eyelid, and tapped his forehead. "Knock knock" "Not...funny, and I...alre..ady. Know...who..s there." Zayde barely pursed his lips at her. "Don't...touch me. Hurts" he mumbled, and Kari smiled. "Okay, that's good. Welcome back to reality," Kari looked at Trei, and smiled. She felt better from the response of her brother, the courage for him to try and make a joke. "So any painkillers that wont knock him out?" she asked, and grabbed one of the wet towels, setting it on the oozing surface of her twin's leg. | |
