Hannah looked down at Demetrey. He was in bad shape. When he commented on feeling ill, Hannah never would have suspected this. He was gracious if not slightly graceful, and honestly, with a wound like this, it would have been a feat just to stand. And he had walked all the way to the wharf with her.

Hannah put this aside and focused on the task at hand. She glanced at the girl, who, though shared some resemblance with Demetrey, she could not be positive they were related. “Do you come from the Crown as part of this elaborate scheme of hospitality?” The girl tacked on to her response. “This Crown?” Hannah responded with a sardonic expression, “No.” “But the sheets, I’d just rip them.” Hannah continued, “Honestly, I’m sure they are numerous and he,” Hannah waved a hand towards the door, “won’t or at least shouldn’t mind. But I doubt he will because he seemed very concerned for Demetrey here.”

Hannah stood and started to pull towels from the cabinet, tossing a few to the girl. She grabbed some extras and returned to Demetrey’s side. They’d have to make sure the surface wound was clean before they applied any salve and wrapped it. It actually wouldn’t be terrible if the wound reopened, it would allow the clay or potatoes to draw out the infection better. Hannah wet a towel and began to scrub the wound, taking pains to cause as little pain as possible but while not trying to keep the cut closed.
