Hannah winced slightly as Demetrey whimpered, but gritted her teeth to continue. Before she could lay the wet towel back to the wound, though, she was shoved a couple of feet across the floor. Hannah was caught by surprise and her eyes widened slightly. It was the girl who had shoved her away. The girl began shouting at her, beginning a long rant that made little sense to Hannah. Hannah frowned, watching the girl. She didn’t understand why the girl wouldn’t allow her to help Demetrey, but immediately decided they were related-most likely siblings. Most people wouldn’t get that defensive unless it was blood. The girl suddenly seemed to understand she was yelling and began anew but this time in apology. Overall, it left Hannah confused with the damp, dirty towel squished between her hand and the floor. Hannah was able to catch in to a few key points. “First off, my name is Hannah. Though that probably isn’t very reassuring to you, but now you know who I am,” Hannah gave a slight grimace and raised her hands in a “here I am” gesture. “Secondly,” Hannah continued, “I’m not an error in this situation. I’ve dealt with a lot of poisons before. It’s not like you can go to your mother when you got bit while you had snuck out instead of sleeping,” Hannah gave a shrug, “Albeit, this is the worst I have ever, and probably will ever, seen.” “And, even though you don’t know me, your brother does,” Hannah nodded toward Demetrey, “though not well. We’re really just acquaintances.” Hannah frow ned at the comment. “Anyways, I’m not intentionally hurting him,” Hannah paused, “Well I suppose I am, but for the right reasons. His wound will drain faster if it’s open. It will allow the pus and bad blood be drawn out by the clay.” “But hey, he’s your brother,” Hannah raised her hands in the universal gesture for meaning no harm, “Your decision.” “And, honestly,” Hannah gave an intentful look at the towels, “If Trei, or anyone for that matter, wouldn’t let you rip up towels for this,” Hannah’s eyes flicked back to the girl, “He’s a dick (I was looking for the equivalent of douche/dick and just couldn’t think of it) .” Hannah nodded her head with eyebrows raised and lips pressed together in a resolute manner. Demetrey moved and reached his hand out to touch the girl. He mumbled his words but it was fairly clear, “She’s okay.” Hannah looked back to the girl and raised her eyebrows in question, clearly asking for permission. | |
